My name is Kathy Tracy, and I live in St. Joseph, MO. I went to my first
Nascar race at Kansas Speedway in 2001, and as a rookie fan, I picked a
rookie driver in answer to that all important Nascar fan question,
"who's your driver?" - that being Jimmie Johnson, driver of the #48
Lowe's Monte Carlo.
Since Jimmie raced for a St. Joseph, MO company, Herzog Motorsports, as
his Busch sponsor, I can claim a connection of sorts. Whatever track the
next race is at is my favorite, and every
track I've visited in person has been an
awesome experience, my favorite so far being Talladega and watching
Jimmie win at "his house, Lowe's Motor Speedway", Darlington and Bristol
rate right up there too.
We visited Texas Motor Speedway this past April for their 10th
Anniversary and had a great time. This picture was taken there, as you
can see by the official Texas Motor Speedway car. It is a very
fan-friendly track, lots of special touches that make your visit even
more enjoyable. I am originally a Kansas girl, hailing from Wellsville,
Kansas - hometown of former Nascar driver Terry Bivins, country singer
Chely Wright and my world famous artist grandma, Elizabeth "Grandma"
Layton. There aren't too many drivers I don't like, but am partial
to the Midwest boys, Carl Edwards, Clint Bowyer, and Jamie
McMurray - as well as my Hendrick boys, Jimmie and Jeff Gordon.
I am a graphic artist, my husband
and I have published a direct mail advertising booklet for 16 years, and
we also sell fireworks. My passion for Nascar is my number one hobby,
but I also enjoy football, quilting, reading, my pets and genealogy
research.
